In my time
the turning of a page,
the loss of courage
and rush to escape.
Within the failure
charred remains
of villages in the forest
and shoots of fervent green,
their seeds cracked open
by the incendiary heat
of a landscape born in fire.
I observe, I witness,
and add my signature
to the bottom line.
I lost sight of the treasure
yet darkness brought return,
the fall from grace
softened by your beauty.
Now beyond forgetting
the renewal of our vows
from our watch above the sea.
Amidst seals’ bark
and ravens’ harsh croak
I lend myself to the tide,
surrendering the armor
of this long suffering shell,
and to the renewal I offer my life.
Reading of “To the Renewal” with music by Bach
Now beyond forgetting — renewal. At first it is I and then it is OUR — our vows, our watch above the sea — then I offer my life. A cycle of loss, surrender and renewal, and a potent poem Don.
Amen!
Change is constant and our Mother informs. Perhaps a renewal for all who believe and wish to connect in a Good way. Blessings Don…
A poetic turn of words that mark this historical cosmic Moment in our cycle of transformation and Transmutation as we ascend “above the sea” and hold this beautiful Earth and its fullness in our caring and blessing hands. Thank you Don.
Ah Don, this is simply the best! You brought tears to my reading of these words, rich with beauty and and filled with meaning. Thank you for what this says, you spoke for me too.
Both the grief and the release pierce the heart. Beautiful.
I also offer myself to the renewal! Thanks, Don!!!!
Don, because of the current of humility in this poem, Jay is unlikely to understand it. I will get in touch and help him know its meaning. Thank you.
Thanks for offering your life to the renewal through your beautiful poetry.
I lend myself to the tide because once seen it is beyond forgetting…….thank you, Don, for speaking true and potent words.
So true — after all my words and deeds, agendas and dreams, the only gift I have to give is surrender to the relentless renewal which springs beyond all my creating.
Always rewarding to renew my subscription to your vision…
Revelation! – in a word.
I recognise repentance, in its full cycle. Its beautiful.
Ah…the sweet spirit of repentance, climbing and lifting, drawing up all who will.
Don: Only 2 of your readers don’t get it: one is “he who cannot be named”; the other: yeah, you are right, pretty obvious
Thank you for your good efforts.
Don — Figel & Schwartz have always been poetically-challenged. Your poem is PERFECT! Keep up the good work.
