Clouded as gray skies,
my thoughts held captive
by the city’s grind
of noise and glaring light,
I turn to the inner chapel,
hymnals worn
from ancient singing,
and find my place
of quiet prayer
in the silence
of forgotten saints.

  1. Don — Isn’t it a bit ironic about those “forgotten saints?” Forgotten long ago, many of us can find comfort in their company now as we grow older &, hopefully, wiser. The saints can be mute now, if we’re fortunate enough to be able to find our place in silent prayer. Thanks so much for sharing this. Mike
