Black silhouettes of trees
against dark night beauty,
tidal rip of moon and sea.
I lay down the weights
of lives never lived,
hurts given, hurts received.
With only so much time,
life doesn’t linger
on what might have been—
only your face
in silver moonlight,
and the quiet prayers
that carry us on.

  1. Don — I love this poem on Father’s Day 2026! Thanks for sharing it. A wife of one of my septuagenarian golf buddies recently told her frugal husband: “Bill, you have more money than you have time.” We all have “Only So Much Time.” Mike
