Rain clouds cover
the nearby islands,
the shapes of hills
rounded in the dark
of a moonless sea.

The only sound
a solitary seal
within the quiet.

Womb of peace,
fertile earth,
give birth to kindness
in the silent night.

  1. Thanks Don, this has a wonderful feel to it, conjures up just the right image
    of the islands and solitude.

  2. Such a gorgeous, dense and penetrating atmosphere I am left with. Here is where new life abides, patient and pure, poised. Thank you.

  3. Don, this poem has the sound of lapping waves in it. Thank you and happy Father’s Day.
