Gathering slowly
Earth welcomes
the fallen leaves of autumn,
golden brown
in their descent.
Summer’s harvest
for winter stew, heated
in the dark cauldron.

I toss in my regrets,
the many failed chances
and remember you
in the silence
while the elixir
comes to boil.

  1. Don, I hope you are reflecting on the good actions and decisions that are part of your past, too. Don’t worry. Out on that lonesome island, you are far removed from those prowling lawyers.

  2. Strong words linking the frigid winter and an armful of regret. We all have them. Best not to linger there! Great photo by Lou M.

  3. Everything can be brought to LOVE in seasons here and now.Let me continue to soften in this great Fire and know true belonging.
You are safe that is enough.

  4. I hear in these words one’s silently surrendered remembrance of Self-Forgiveness being the sacred elixir that sanctifies everything which otherwise would remain forever regrettable at best.

  5. “For I was an hungred, and ye gave me meat: I was thirsty, and ye gave me drink: I was a stranger, and ye took me in: Naked, and ye clothed me: I was sick, and ye visited me: I was in prison, and ye came unto me” — in this long-time poem-cycle, prayer-cycle, that we share with you Don. “And when He had fasted forty days and forty nights, afterward He was hungry.” Let us break bread; let us eat, in gratitude, in remembrance, in the silence of our knowing now. db
