Cloud breaks reveal the moon
as light spills across the water,
rousing the quiet land.

Old roots stir, ancient trees
and stone canyons
find their voices.

Island folk emerge
from shelter
as whale song fills
the saltwater evening.

What began with light
is renewed in radiance,
and from sea depth and cavern
rise the breath of earth’s joy.

  1. Don, I enjoy reading a poem with such confidence and joy in it. By the way, is this your own photo today?

  2. “…light spills across the water, rousing the quiet land.”
    Don,
Nice phrase and I like the photo.

  3. Don, what a lovely description of the effect of radiance born from moonlight’s magic. Bruce’s music and your photo provide a beautiful complement to your words. Thank you!

  4. As a guy who lives in the Foothills of the Colorado Rocky Mountains, I’m always appreciative of being able to experience the atmosphere and essence of the northwest through your poetry Don. The Seascape, the whales song, the ocean breeze, the sound of the waves, and so much more, allow me to share in your world and where you draw some of your inspiration.
    Thank you!

  5. What began with Light (amid that very first set of words You penned here, Don) epitomizes the Universal 4 Forces, by which every whit of Creation comes forth in perfect expression: The Moon-fed Light of Truth spills through our planet’s Air; Thus rousing the (once-quiet) Earth (now quaking)! So, Where’s the Fire? It’s embued in your every radiant word here, Don. BRAVO, Blessed Bard-oh!
