Night winds rouse
the old earth gods—

rivers don’t sleep,
dark forests rise,

sodden roots shatter
the concrete prison.

  1. Amazing, isn’t it, that something as supple and as genuine as roots can shatter these concrete prisons. Beautiful, Don.

  2. So grateful that the root system is fed only by the shameless generation of a gold that none of us own, given in total care upward to our Home.

  3. Life insists; life persists. Little grasses, even a stray marigold, spring up through tiny cracks in my concrete driveway. Thank you Don!
