With gray skies and cold air
the sun moves south on the horizon
as autumn reaches into the islands.
Settled into the stillness
the lonely sounds of geese
echo across the bay,
the morning quiet rich.
Bird wings flutter in the trees
while I put away the tools of summer,
burrowing into deep earth silence
where the soul cavern awaits.
Reading of “Soul Cavern” with music intro by Sinead O’Connor.
The soul cavern of winter awaits…
Don, wonderful photo today along with a great reflection. Thanks. – Love, Tom & Nancy
Your Poem captures the essence of my day yesterday as I cleaned and organized my garden shed and put away the tools of Summer. Your poem honors the change of seasons in a beautiful way. Thanks for including the beautiful photo by Jim!
What stands out to me as Autumn settles in at 7000 ft. is the changing of the guard at my bird feeders. Gone are the Western Tanagers, Black Headed Grosbeaks, Crossbills, Hummingbirds, Buntings, only to mention a few. Now I begin to see Finches, Chickadees, Juncos, Pine Sisken, and a few strays. I welcome each season with my heart wide open, an invitation to share in the bountifulness of life.
Thanks for choosing one of my photos to represent your Soul Cavern. I love that your Soul Cavern has color, trees and a wee brook at its heart as does mine. As the sound of the vibrant colors fade into stillness we may rest in the calm, quiet of the cavern at creations core. Maria chose this work of the Creator of All, I am privileged to record its image.
So much richness awaits this cycle of surrendered Realization.
Thanksgiving for what we each have brought to the table of this brand new earth coming to us.
