I offer silence
on the altar of the earth,
preferring assurance
to foolish talk.

I’ve known confusion
and lost the will to live,
but found strength
from voices beyond time,
and in the blessings
of the green world.

Silence is not absence,
rather the presence of a knowing
in the flight of hummingbird,
and the space within,
to resonate with the song of life
in morning quiet.

  1. Don, “Silence is not absence” is a great discovery in this lovely poem. You without a will to live is hard to imagine. You have no shortage of will.

  2. Awareness. Knowingness. Mind’s chatter quieted. Precious silence embraced. Deep peace. Thank you, my friend.

  3. Oh Yes, Don — I so love every fresh hearing anew of the inner Voice of Truth that honors, affirms, uplifts, and imbues my soul with such sanguine salves that only Love can bestow.

What a privileged pleasure it is to fully live each sacred day granted. Praise Be Raised!

  4. Don — Joe Evans loved this quote from William Blake: “To see a World in a Grain of Sand. And a Heaven in a Wild Flower.” I did/do too. Your poem “Song of Life” is beautiful & profound. Thanks for sharing it.

  5. Don,
At the beginning or end of a day there are no more words to describe the effulgence of my heart. Yes, assurance. Praise for this tone of Light. Thankfulness for your continued heartbeat… Years, decades ago we laughed so hard we were both running to the bathroom! We’re still filled with gladness!
    Kind Regards,
    Josanne

  6. Don — your poem is the gift of wonder and Great Mystery
I have waited and maintained this space
    not absent or in hesitation
    but vividly with you
    within the timelessness of time
    and in the holy silence
    “What is silence?
    It is the Great Mystery!
The holy silence is His voice!”
