Sun and stars
bathe the Earth
in light,

illuminating the soul
in morning solitude
and sacred dark.

We journey through cosmos
gathered in this embrace,
an ocean-blue jewel.

Silence the guns of war,
hush the violence of belief.

Let the Earth be an altar
where the pure in heart
come to pray.

  1. What I miss most of my seven years in seminary is the Gregorian chant choir I had the pleasure to conduct. Hearing the chant you bring to accompany your sacred poem creates an atmosphere of peace and intimate communion with the Beloved in my heart. Thank you Don.

  2. Thanks, Don. This is timely for me — I have re-learned that it is unnecessary for others to believe what I believe. If we meet in the vibration of blessing, it is possible for us to walk together.

  3. Simple communion nourishes the Soul of our humanity.
In this you and others are brothers in arms.

  4. Let All the Earth (mine) keep Silence sacred … Above and beyond All that I might think, say, do, or pray for … All in the sanctity of a pure Heart. Praise Be Raised!

  5. A beautiful Poetic perspective of our sacred planet journeying through the Cosmos. Much gratitude Don!

  6. Yes, isn’t it a phenomenon of human history that belief can lead to cruelty and violence? All righteously justified.

    This is a timely benediction.

  7. Your poetry is always imbued with a sense of the sacred: the sacred in the life process you perceive; the sacred in how you engage that in word. In this poem it brims to the full. Under and within a heaven of stars, the earth herself is seen as the altar of life and gateway to the sacred… blessed in deed are the pure in heart for they shall see the wonder of the sacred within and at the altar of life, our home among the stars. Thank you Don.
