No one told the plum tree
about the end of the world,
or the fat layered seal
about oceans passing.
Changes come,
but a pup still cries
and salmon rush strong
when the last of the snow
melts down to the sea.
I tell myself of a far reach
where her truth pours down
like veins from the mountain.
We should stop
before time runs out,
and let the river
tell us once more
about the old way,
the ancient streams
of thought and feeling,
as the plum tree opens
when the sun is hot
and the soft red fruit
slowly ripens.
My Heart Sings w yours, my Friend.
Just beautiful. A pause for reflection. Thank you
yes, indeed we should stop our horrific human drunken dumb-show. yet, i suspect that cataclysmic cosmic interplay will find a perfect meeting place within us and without us, dissolve all our upside-down creations and set everything right-side up in what remains, in transformed human consciousness – let it all be made new in whatever way is required. and, let this heart continue to open upward to the sun, like the blossoms on the plum tree. thanks don
Yes, the beautiful magic of life and renewal carries on around us. Trying to defy the tide of destruction brought by humankind, as if to say “I am still here – you still have a chance to remember why you were created.”
I know I’ve said this before Don, but here goes again: one of the best I’ve read from your pen and your heart; this one touches me so deeply in its evocative, poignant way, brings tears, and just a touch of hope……thank you for your heart sharing……
Yes, there is no “doom and gloom” in the natural unfolding of the earth’s way……….
Don… This mosaic of deep feeling, pressured up from the depths of your soul it seems, finds the hot sun of conscious ones, to bear ripe fruit in season… Surely!
Don,
The Greek word for messenger is “Angelos.”
Thanks for your poem, as it draws us together, reminding us in the eternal NOW.
The Plum Tree is as beautiful after fruit and leaf have dropped, presenting its naked pride of core balance. So with Gaia. Thank you, Don.
Don, this is wisdom expressed in gentle music.
Lovely re-focusing, Don. Thank you.
“The plum tree opens though the sun is hot……..”, these beautiful words point to the fact that there needs to be passion in our hearts for the “ancient stream”, for the way. Thank you my friend for your rhythmic words that always renew understanding.
the wind made no mention of it to branch and leaves, nor any hint of it found, in mountain veins flowing
