Sunlight on the water
this cool September morning,
with rain clouds over the distant island;
the earth pitch-perfect in communion.
It took a lifetime of letting go
to discover this solace,
where the sea and green land
soak comfort into the soul.
I offer peace into this temple,
feel her peace rise beneath my feet,
and with the rains of autumn
follow the way of the sacred earth.
Reading of “Place of Solace” with music by Loreena McKennitt
I love the feeling captured by this picture of you, my friend. It brings up a well spring of appreciation and love for the gifts of your weekly poetry that flow to all of us.
Quite readily, Brother-Man Don — what with your seaward vista-view serenely shining Mother Earth’s dawning over your shoulder to me — do I continually “SEE what you’re saying”, with eyes wide open yet in temple-like ease week upon week. Peace Be Yours Always.
Tranquility, the supreme virtue of the outer man… because it opens the Way of the inner.
Don — Beautiful poem & photo! “It took a lifetime of letting go to discover this solace.” Thank you. Mike
Exquisite. After many false steps, I join you there.
Loreena’s siren as a collective haunt lifted in dance as we perch in the thankfulness that a kindred brother brings together in precious prayer.
Washed clean is a generational gift to us.
A lifetime of letting go – I salute you, Don, and this path you have taken so fervently. The photo of you is perfect. I’m very glad to see it. Love to you!
As with our friend, Andrew, you had me simply with “the photo.” The poem is the bonus gift! Magnificent mood in the photo of you at dawn, and this piece. I love your words: “feel her peace rise beneath my feet,” as I feel that too. There is such freedom and sweet peace in this solace. Thank you, Don.
Such Love in the making.
Gratefully thank you, thank You
