We are an old people,
among the first the stories say,
who walked the land
when fresh with the Creator’s touch.

Though scarred with years of trouble
yet we sing the blessing songs,
greeting the Sun each day
with the thankfulness it deserves.

And sing for you
a song of belonging,
child of a distant Light
and ancient Mother.

May you walk in beauty
all your days, and if forgotten
may this song remind you.

  1. Don, what a rough beginning for someone about to attend a 55th college reunion. Even Jay S., on the cusp of Mike Mc’s class, escapes the full blow.

  2. Don — Thank you for this. I even liked your poem today after I read Tom F’s comment above. This is indisputable proof of how good your poem is.

  3. Thank you, Don.
A beautiful blessing… stirring tears of tender remembrance and profound gratitude.

  4. And if forgotten may this song remind you… Not written for me but a gift from you to me.

  5. It is a good reminder to share Don—Beauty is Truth and Truth is Beauty—thank you
