The night is clouded,
close with rain,
evergreens sway in shadow;
darkness comforts.
I let the earth approach,
tree and tide,
the sound of wind,
sweep of the sea,
and from the core
of root and stone
the flow of grace
fills my vessel.
Reading of “Let the Earth Approach” with music by Vivaldi.
Sweet and gentle welcome of earth’s fullness and generosity. Thank you poet!
“The flow of grace fills my vessel”
Very nice, Don!
Don, I agree with Chris D. The poem is tranquil and well-constructed. Thank you.
Lovely. The flow of grace fills my heart…
I sense a density, a fullness, wrapped around this piece. It feels thick with calm, abiding, welcome and peace with things, just as they are. And yes, that is when grace comes and fills me. I love this image of letting the earth approach. Beautiful mood, Don. Thank you!
Amid the seemingly clouded darkness of the Unknown, masking sweeps of the sea, sounds in the wind, or even the silent shadows of long-earthen Evergreens, waverings in my soul could well make for a deep disquiet — that is, only until the approaching flow of Earth’s Grace reveals, in Her own time, the root and stone of the One everlasting Known that fills my vessel Here and Now … And How!
