Leaving No Trace

Birds flock on the tide
while dark clouds of rain
are driven onshore,
clearing skies over the island.
Gracefully they circle and land,
circle and land, gathering.
I sit quietly, sipping
on the early hours
of soft light and shadow.
The silent earth, teaching
deep root and letting go,
lightens my footsteps
until like the ancients
I leave no trace
but the imprint of kindness
left on the souls
I’ve dared to love.

“Daring to love.” I remember when I first dared to love. I had to let go of loving myself first & only. What a beautiful, liberating experience when one “dares to love”!

Having just celebrated my 75th, I find these words (leaving “no trace”) so evocative of the inevitable end of each life. Its starkly stated and then followed by the grace of leaving a spiritual imprint on those remaining . Very beautiful.

One of your best…. Thank you.

  13. Edward Haimes says:

I have felt your imprint of kindness left on my soul since we first met in 1984. You certainly dared to love everyone in your spheres of connection, and I have certainly been privileged to receive such blessing. Thank you.

  14. Marco Menato says:

I was reminded that the more advanced a civilisation the less of a trace it leaves behind. Lemuria is a case in point. Similarly for humans. The evidence of one’s successful passage is not found in what we leave behind, but in what ascends with us, and therefore in how we contributed to the healthy flow of energy in the eco-system.

  15. Leaving the imprint of kindness…what a nice image!
