World Anew

A flight of crows
silhouette the morning.
Red skies to the east
speak of coming rain
though the air above
is clear and blue
as cold snaps
the power lines.
The old earth
claws for purchase
yet the turning
reaches from furthest star
to the roots of trees,
a new heaven
poised over the horizon,
beginning even now
to shape the world anew.

January 3, 2021 – Don, when I read the poem to Nancy, she said, “He is very talented.” I don’t think it was the quality of my reading voice. What Nancy said is true: you are very talented. Thanks for sharing your words and your calm.

As horizons bring the mystery of the ages, so also come the certainties of the rising of the Sun. Thanks, Don.

Geoff is right. This poetic space is a shaping place where a few strokes open the trail, shaping characters found right at hand by one who is never lost, at home in a world being created ever new. I love being here with you and all the others, Don, together shaping these characters (you and all of us) into one long and seamless poem which speaks of everlasting life.

I love your poem, Don. A new heaven that is beginning, even now, to shape the new. The waiting is unnecessary, we know it now, we sense it in our very being! There is no imaginary world coming down in the clouds to impress us, but our very breath is the sign of the new earth! We are humble in the knowledge!
