Fullness of Desire

To learn the earth takes
a slow steady ponder, listening
to the sounds and silences,
especially the silences,
paying homage with attention
until something dark and unseen
breaks into awareness,
bursting like a mushroom
with the full throat of desire.

Unlike Tom, my days are not busy. AM I PAYING ATTENTION! Are my days full of that steady ponder, of listening–ESPECIALLY to that which is golden, silent, formless. There is no “retiremement” from this task, for which I came to undertake. Thank you for this reminder, Don.
