Blessing to Begin

In the dark of early morning
when first light flickers
the quiet peace intact
before the city stirs,
I lend my voice
to the undimmed stars
with news of the worried planet
torn by war and secrets,
the earth herself betrayed,
offering a prayer of thanks
within the unconscionable,
grateful, open hearted
asking for day’s light
and a blessing to begin.

Don…you are “reading my mail”…(smile) That is exactly the sentiment that began my day today! Thank you, my brother…

  2. Grant Williams says:

Whenever I call in the Below Direction before a group meeting and after the smudging, I thank Mother Earth for her bounty and patience. It seems like her tolerance is beginning to run out. Really liked this one……..

  3. Tom Figel says:

Don, this is well done and also makes me think about the time you said Grace at my parents’ house, followed by “Far out! I haven’t said that in ___ years.” As your poem shows, we learn. Thanks.

  4. T Johansson says:

We really CAN rise above it, can’t we, Brother… thanks for the timely reminder.

Sheldrake’s “morphic fields” can heal the mass subconscious. I explain this on my Blog! http://www.beinginspiring.net/ nothing to buy or sell

Really like this one, Don. OK if I put it on my Facebook page for my peeps? Or, rather, for the world–any who are looking. Of course with proper credits.

  8. Katherine O,,,Neill says:

I lend my voice also asking for light and acknowledging blessings gratefully. Good to know that many are doing this. Surely the ‘undimmed stars” will eventually overcome the darkness and we ARE helping. Thank you Don

    Beautiful, Don.

Yes the core of the work:

    within the unconscionable’

What a sweet way to begin an early Sunday morning “catching up” at the office before first light. I will await the dawn with an open heart!

  13. Pichay says:

I daily greet the morning Sun, the evening Moon in each of her phases, the night stars that guide me, the warmth of Gaia beneath my feet–with a warm tear of gratitude….even as Arctic ice calving and Fukoshima radiation meet somewhere west of the Americas. Thank you, Don, for your share in our responsibility to keep our own capacities conscious, and awaken others.

  14. Pat Fitzsimmons says:

Thus, we create a new world each moment, each day…..

  15. Teddy says:

Don! Love this poem! It touched me deeply. Told our friend Dan, it would be a good one for Warrior Monk! He said, we both were / are on the same wavelength…thinking the same thing! With your permission and honoring you, would love to share at a retreat of my own. Let me know!
