Sidewalk Rose

What ails but thought
of the big problem
and right solution
while morning slips away
and the last scarlet drops
from the climbing rose
beside our door,
a gift to the sidewalk
and all who pass us by.

Oh yes, get out of your head and see what’s right in front of you. Let’s try this today. Thanks

Thanks Don. I have roses like this right outside of my office window (a gift from my friend Richard S when I built my house 11 years ago). They are always reminders of the precious friendships that come through all my connections.

This one REALLY hits home….believing our thoughts is the big problem! ….thanks!

  4. Andrew Shier says:

Love it, Don. Puts things in perspective.

  5. Tom Wilson says:

Beautiful, Don. Divinity at your door. Oh, that could we empty these minds and see it in all the things of this world that keep calling us home.

    Blessing on you brother.

  6. Robin Bryant says:

Thank you Don for choosing this to share. I’m keeping her close to my heart and soul. Lovingly received.

  7. You start with a question word, so the structure that evolved in my head was aiming for a question mark that never came, but I loved the “last scarlet drops,” and the addition of the photograph!

  8. Athena Coleman says:

My step daughter gave me a plaque that states “a garden is heaven fallen to earth”. The natural world quietly tells me to be at peace and our garden provides that space. Thank you for this reminder to be still.

I’ve felt blessed to stand outside your door and smell that rose and marvel at its presence, knowing full well that it led up a stairs to a dear friend who has such a gift to see what most don’t see and share it with all of us. Thank you so much for the light shed on the beauty all around us, and the meaning that comes through your words.
