We can drive our fate
into the wall of the world
or find our way
like water around rock.

Beyond the wall
a spread of forest
and rushing wind,
the sound of rivers
and clatter of bird wing.

Soften like water,
follow the stone path,
a sheer fall of open air,
the freedom of light.

  1. Ah-h-h…perspective. As the Moody Blues sang, it is “A Question of Balance.” Every night before I enter the dream land, I instruct my fists to open, and my heart and mind to say, “Thank you….”

  2. I needed this today, a reminder of the power and beauty of fluidity. Thank you Don, exquisite as always.

  3. In softness I return to my roots of freedom, and clarity of truth. I love the journeys you take us on, often into the wonder and brilliance of nature. Like water through rock .. I discover new perspectives and new dances in the light. I love it all. Thank You Don.

  4. Don, I notice the fine poem provoked thoughtful comments today – well, till now, at least.

  5. I wrote recently about finding our way through the rock by honoring the creative process. It seems we were on the same wavelength, starting with water and finding air, earth and fire as your poem suggests.

  6. Thank you for your beautiful words. They calm my being and give me rest from my imagined fight with “the world”.

  7. The Earth, the wind, the fire, the water… Return, return return, return.

  8. The rush of water, soft or thunderous always finds its way….. water, such apt metaphor for our lives. Love it, Don!

  9. Read this poem to 4 friends at an Attunement gathering in Riverside CA
last night. Their comments showed how relevant your words are to
    this softening process. Many thanks.

  10. Don, It’s true, we can ‘find our way’, ‘soften like water’, experience ‘freedom’. This is exquisite. This is happening. Thank you, and love to you my friend………
