The clouded sun
lights the sea,
gulls cry out
their morning welcome
and the daily news arrives.

The greater the disturbance
the deeper I reach
to nurture the garden.
Watered with silence,
fed with forgiveness,
the harvest is spirit
and upon this altar
I am lifted.

  1. Great metaphor for how to BE in the world, this crazy world evidencedi in the daily news! I love the image of the sandhill cranes, lifting in flight, and the deep harmony in the choir. Thank you, Don.

  2. I love the calming, loving spirit in your poem, Don. So necessary in these times. Thank you.

  3. Lovely Don … to nurture the Garden one must be in the Garden … and it here that we really discover one another, fellow gardeners, working together, as we are.
