Tell you what I’ll do.
I’ll scrub the world with steel wool,
scrape away the grimy bits
of cruelty and war,
put soap and water
to sorrow and despair.

Fresh flowers on all the graves,
remembrances for the forgotten.
Silence to cleanse the tangle of sound
then starlight for speaking.

When you awake, you’ll find tears
of kindness watering the garden,
and green earth waiting.
That’s what I’ll do
for you this morning.

  3. Don, Reading this, I thought right away of the Mama’s and Papas song ” whisper a little prayer for me my baby…and the darkest hour is just before dawn” … Great tune and yours is a sweet poem.

  4. Don, this is a gorgeous love poem, and I am touched to feel that love in this new world. So generous, and clear and guileless. I love it.

  5. So poignant Don! I sense that my personal garden of mind and heart has been watered deeply with your kindness. Blessings to you my friend!
