The sunlit path,
orange-gold on the sea,
one lone fisherman
trolling the depths

for the wisdom
that might free you
from the ancient snare.

Prayer is not to beg,
but casts an invisible line
baited in love’s own flesh,
with the patience to wait.

So I speak into the dark,
the thin voice of an aged man,
trusting the strength of line
and the truth of my devotion.

  1. What heals the Fisher King is the question, “whom does the Grail serve.” Blessed are the pure in heart. Thank you for this reminder.

  2. “…trusting the strength of the line and the truth of my devotion.”
    Very well said, Don.
