Spread with Wings

Where angels gather

windswept rocks

and rooted pine

and raptors in their solace;

there the burning is within

the flame whose wood is light

igniting the record

of all their choices

right and wrong

fueling the rise

into deep blue

burning, letting go

light and ash

becoming seed

spread with wings

upon the wind.

Thanks, Don – I needed that sense of context this morning. I’m grateful that our human experience is contained in a larger, cleansing reality.

My Prayers are released with smoke upon the wind, ashes descending to our Mother. Thanks for this reminder… and prayers are projections of Gratitude for this man, providing solace in my life and gifts of wonder.

  3. David Banner says:

I got a strong visual on that one, my friend….keep up the great work!

  4. Sylvia says:

lovely and warming: makes our choices seem so insignificant: allowing more choices without restrictions.

  5. Thanks, Don. Beautiful reminder that there is really no such thing as a “permanent record” to be dragged around behind. Resolution/forgiveness is an ongoing, fluid process opening the door to the present at a creatively higher level.

I like this because it reminds me that true prayer is not the act of asking God or whomever to handle something on my behalf, but it is finding the core of me, the balance point where I finally feel in my bones that all will be well. I particularly love the imagery of this poem.
