Here for a Season

When I’m tired
and aggrieved
I return to the earth
green and vivid.
The life of one petal,
one leaf,
here for a season
then passing.
You had many seasons,
many years my friend.
You brightened the earth,
brought a smile
and sharp wit
with gentleman’s grace.
I will miss you.

Lovely tribute — the gift exchange. One season, many seasons, it came to pass, end of the body-world but not the end of earth and sky. I am reminded of words from a poem (Go Now) by Gary Snyder:

    This present moment
    that lives on
    to become
    long ago

  2. Tom Figel says:

Don, I’m sorry for the loss of your friend. Your poem honors him, even though you don’t mention Michael’s fine hairstyle.

Wonderful Don… did Your Friend ever play golf? If so, I’m sure he was at times a Diamond in the “rough”… pun fully intended. I Trust his passing is not rough on you, but filled with many good memories.

  4. Eric Dunn says:

    Beautiful!

  5. Jack Lavelle says:

Whattaya think, Donny: you, me and KD are gonna outlive everybody we know?
