Spoken By the Sea

Before waves and wind the light
slanted across the sea
silver and shimmering
with clouds painted in the sky
like a Roman chapel.
Birds move silently through the air,
seals bob in the flooding tide;
I sit like the old rocks
quiet and unmoving,
waiting upon the sound of water
and the truth revealed
again and again
in the sacred text
written upon the clouds
spoken by the sea.

  15. Thanks Don, we really do live in “sacred text”. I must tell you when I got this I was chanting silently in my mind a Hawaiian chant: Earth and Sky, sea and stone, hold this land in sacredness.” Love the syncronicity of that.

  16. Maria Frid says:

The ever present truth revealed in the bobbing of the seals, silent movements of birds and the sacred text written in our hearts and all around paints the most marvelous picture………..thank you!

  17. “The truth revealed again and again in the sacred text written…”
on the faces of friends awakening to truth of who they are,
in the eyes of animals giving unconditional love to those in need,
within the cycles of seasons giving continuity to an unstable world.

Sacred texts are known through stillness and gratitude.

  18. David Barnes says:

So many ways to un-Veil the Sacred Text – the Word made Flesh all around within and without – and I love the unVeiling always evident in your writing, Don.
