Dream of Night

The whole world awoke
with water flowing
through the ebbing tide,
low sun slanting
on the morning sea,
gulls circling the rocks crying
for everything to come awake
in the early freshened hours
as the dream of night hatched
like a perfect egg
and we opened our eyes
into the very first light.

Beautiful. Captures the way the one life wakes up each day in “the family of things,” to steal the phrase from Mary Oliver. She’s your soul sister, Don.
